Why We Built This Site
Dickenson County's public route is more specific than a single sheriff search. Virginia's Online Case Information System (OCIS) covers eligible adult court cases, while the combined clerk at 119 Courthouse Lane handles General District and JDR matters. The Circuit Clerk maintains a different case set, and the Sheriff's Office is the source for its own arrest, service, and agency records. A public case result may not display a signed warrant or reflect a new order immediately.
We built this reference to explain those boundaries and direct readers to the office that can answer a particular question. The research found no public countywide active-warrant roster, dedicated warrant phone, municipal trial-court portal, or local warrant amnesty program. It also found that the Sheriff's arrests archive is not a warrant list. Naming what could not be verified helps prevent a general web search from being mistaken for confirmation.
Local geography matters too. Clintwood Town Hall, the Judicial Center, and the Sheriff's Office are separate destinations. Haysi and Clinchco town offices can answer municipal-record questions, while the state court holds traffic calendars and cases. Each page is organized around this real routing rather than assuming that a town police department and its court share one counter.
The weekly schedule gives another local distinction: Town of Clintwood traffic appears at 9:00 a.m., Clinchco at 10:00 a.m., and Haysi at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. All are General District Court listings. A town clerk's FOIA process, a police report, and a court case are separate records even when they concern one event.
What You Will Find Here
- Case search: the Dickenson County warrant search page explains the statewide OCIS limits, court selection, and how to use a case number.
- Current status: the active warrant information page explains why no complete public roster was verified and how to confirm a case with the correct office.
- Missed dates: the bench warrant guidance describes General District, JDR, and Circuit clerk routes.
- New charges: the arrest warrant page explains the magistrate process and the role of the local law-enforcement agencies.
- Traffic cases: the traffic page separates a citation, a missed appearance, and any later court order.
- Town records: city pages distinguish police, town-clerk, and court contacts in Clintwood, Haysi, and Clinchco.
For the official adult case index, use Virginia OCIS. The Dickenson combined-court page and the Sheriff's Office website provide separate agency routes. Court calendars, town information, and law-enforcement records are not interchangeable.
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, with no government affiliation or access to official warrant systems. The boundaries are practical: we do not hold a Dickenson County case file, and we cannot check an individual's status. The following work belongs to the court, a law-enforcement agency, or an attorney:
- We cannot run an official check or confirm whether a warrant exists or remains active.
- We cannot recall, quash, remove, or clear court process or change a case entry.
- We cannot accept bond, fines, ticket payments, or fees on behalf of a court or agency.
- We cannot arrange a surrender, appearance date, or walk-through at the magistrate's office.
- We cannot give legal advice about a specific charge, bond, or response to a warrant.
- We cannot promise that office hours, fees, forms, and procedures have not changed.
Only the responsible court or law-enforcement agency can confirm its own record. The Dickenson County research did not identify a dedicated sheriff warrant unit or direct warrant phone; use the Sheriff's Office or the issuing clerk's published contact and ask to be routed.
The magistrate has limited in-person coverage, so the county advises callers to use the official business-hours number and contact dispatch/non-emergency after hours for the on-duty contact. That route is for reaching the magistrate, not for an online status check. A clerk can explain filing or record procedures but cannot tell a person what legal strategy to choose.
Search Partners
Some pages include search boxes operated by third-party providers. A query entered into such a box is handled by that provider under its own terms and privacy practices. Providers set their own prices, decide how their services work, and determine what their results contain. A paid signup may generate a referral fee that supports this site; it does not make the result an official Dickenson County court or sheriff record.
For a government source, use Virginia OCIS for eligible public adult case information, the combined clerk for General District and JDR questions, or the Circuit Clerk for Circuit filings. The Sheriff's Office can answer for its own records. The county's arrests archive is an agency publication, not an active warrant roster. Confirm important details directly with the office that keeps the record.
